Warrenton Dental Center Presents: The Apple Doesn't Fall Far From the Tree: A look at Sleep Apnea in Children

with Bonnie Foster, RDH, DDS 


The objectives of the presentation are:

  • Understanding Sleep Breathing Disorders
  • Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) in children and adults
  • Is there genetic predisposition to OSA
  • Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome (UARS)
  • Oral manifestations of Patients with OSA
  • Diagnosis and Treatment of OSA
  • Role of a hygienist as a healthcare provider


Raised in a military family, Dr. Bonnie Foster grew up across the United States and in Cuba. She began her dental career as a Dental Assistant, followed by a successful career as a Registered Dental Hygienist for 18 years. Dr. Foster returned to school and earned her Dental Degree from the Medical College of Virginia. She is very keen on staying informed on the latest developments in dentistry, which is why she continues to pursue continuing education. She attended post-graduate programs at the University of Minnesota and New York University, as well as training courses in cosmetic dentistry and dental implants. 


Drawing upon her unique dental career, Dr. Foster has lectured at conferences both domestically and internationally. She also provides pro-bono services through the Virginia Dental Association and has traveled overseas with the International Dental Implant Association Missionary Trip. 


To continue to provide her patients with the best available care, Dr. Foster continues to expand her reach and knowledge through advanced courses in Dental Sleep Medicine and Craniofacial Pain. 


As Dr. Foster continues to remain ahead of the latest advancements in dentistry, she attends lectures and seminars in dental sleep medicine, craniofacial pain and temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD). To date she has completed over 500 hours of continuing education in these fields and is a diplomate in craniofacial  Pain thru AACP and extensive training at UCLA School of Dentistry. Dr. Foster recently became a fellow with the International College of Dentists. She also is adjunct faculty with the dental hygiene department at Lord Fairfax Community College.


With her advanced training, Dr. Bonnie Foster hopes to not only help improve her patients’ oral health, but their overall health as well.
