Description:

Introduction into sleep disordered breathing and the many dental and health manifestations that occur as a result. This common and under diagnosed problem impacts potentially 20% of the United States population. Learn and understand a deeper connection between common dental problems and sleep disordered breathing. Discover a new approach to resolving TMD, mouth breathing, and bruxism, that is all within the scope of licensed dental professionals.

 

Objectives:

Upon completion of this presentation, attendees will be able to

      Understand basic sleep concepts and the impact of poor sleep.

      Understand sleep disordered breathing and common treatments

      Identify common dental oral signs associated with sleep disordered breathing

      Understand the role of dentistry in identifying, referral, and treatment of sleep disordered breathing

Karese Laguerre, RDH, OMT

Karese is a Registered Dental Hygienist and Myofunctional Therapist. She founded The Myo Spot, a practice aimed at amplifying oral wellness to whole body wellness. Through tele-therapy she helps clients of all ages overcome tongue ties, TMJ disorders, sleep apnea, grinding, anxiety, and various breathing and orofacial dysfunction. Passionate about education and self-help, she published Accomplished: How to Sleep Better, Eliminate Burnout and Execute Goals. When not working with clients globally she spends time with her husband and four kids.
